History [Day] In the Making
Students spent Friday afternoon, Saturday, and Sunday morning at school with Ms. Trenkle, the computers, the paper cutters, their primary sources and their boards to get their History Day projects completed!

NHD DC Tshirt Design Underway
On Thursday, February 26, select 8th grade students met with DC History Day coordinator, Missy McNatt, to learn about their options and limitations for designing the DC NHD tshirt for 2009. This is an exciting opportunity for our 8th graders--the tshirt will be given away at the citywide competition in April. Students will have the tshirt designed by next week. Stay tuned to see what the final product will look like!

Secondary Source Folders

The blog entry that I am doing is about secondary sources and our secondary source folder. The reason why we have to do secondary sources is because it is for National History Day. Another reason we have to do secondary sources is because it teaches us about the person that we are doing for National History Day. Also, it is important for us to have secondary sources because it's a grade for history. The last reason it is important for us to have secondary sources is because it's going to help us on our entire project.
A secondary source is the opposite of a primary source. It is a sour
ce about the person's life, but not written by the person being studied. An example, is a biography about the person. A secondary source is a summary of a person's life, an example of a secondary source for me is looking in a book or an encyclopedia for information in Berry Gordy. In my folder I put books and encyclopedia articles that I copied about Berry Gordy.
